Blogging:Therapeutic or Chem.Addictiion Substitute?

I've realized recently that this blog may soon become an alternative/substitute outlet for my incessant and indelible passion and NEED for occupation/employment. That's not good or is it? I mean, it doesn't surprise me at all that I'm able to wake up at 5am, drink coffee and begin working with my Mac (either online or in Photoshop) and stay focused and productive without being lured away by hobo drama/amusement all day long. For now, I suppose its a positive change. Its one more option for me to choose from each day... lemme see...I can either 1) find David Mick and start drinking beer @6am, 2) go out on the median and fly my "please help" sign and make some hobo cash or 3)
go somewhere to get online and stay busy and sober working on this blog and future content.

Of course, the local hobos can't quite understand it--they're all sitting up in the crow's nest drinking beer and asking themselves "Have you seen Scott today? Where's Scott? How in the world can a beer drinkin', cigarette smokin', sign flyin',suitcase draggin' hobo, like Scott, mosey up inside that Albertsons grocery store and post up at that little Starbucks kiosk ALL FREAKIN' DAY LONG fiddling 'round on his computer? How in HELL can he sit there less than 75 ft away from all those shiny glass bottles of whiskey, vodka, gin, rum, wine and ALL THAT ICE COLD BEER all day long and then leave up out of there without having even a faint smell of booze on his breath nor any boozein his suitcase? He must be losing his mind...he might have found him a girl friend inside that that grocery store or on the internet...He's been avoiding us that's for sure...Can't quite figure him out anymore."

I can understand their shock and confusion at my sudden and sustained focus on this blog stuff for the past couple of weeks because they've never known any hobos who had developed a set of useful capable hands-on  'hobo skills'  who also have some skills that are current and employable and
who are hell bent upon getting off the streets.

They've all heard me whine and bitch about how much I hate this hobo crap...how boring it is ...
and most of all how absolutely depressing it is to see your life flying by as you' live like an insect or a rodent and measure time and success each day by how big your pile of empty beer cans and cigarette butts is.

They've heard/seen countless hobos meltdown in their moments of remorse, regret and self-loathing and so have I and its pretty sickening to witness, I must admit. And so whenever I erupt into my own pathetic rant/whine, I try seduce my hobo audience into the spirit I'm feeling by preaching in the plural possessive form ("us", "we", "our"). That usually works until one of them gets so immersed into my rant that he needs to drink more to keep from crying. But eventually they all tell me the same thing every time I whine/rant: "If you wanna get your career back on track and leave Hoboville, then go make it happen." And a cynical burst of laughter cuts loose from each hobo signaling the end of my rant (at least for today).

You see, they just don't believe that a thriving, street-wise, able bodied hobo like myself could actually hate this living situation as much as I claim to. But now they're not sure what to believe when they see me spending consecutive entire days alone without drinking nor being chased around by plastic badged security guards all day long.

With this minor distraction set aside for now, let me slide over into a more hearty and systemic issue that I'm saddled with here...It may require at least 2 cans( 24oz.) of Steel Reserve 211 beer for me to get it resolved. My guess is that other blogger folks deal with this all the time. If so I wonder if they have any useful tips/insight to help me out.

The problem: Prioritization of content... I suspect its the most vital and yet most intuitive /risky aspects of being a good News Editor. Do you ever notice when you watch the evening tee vee news, there's usually some guy either pacing around in the back of the studio scratching his bald head or sitting at a desk making a paperclip chain, drumming on the side of his coffee cup or rubbing his eyes while he's on hold on the phone? Who is that guy?

I'll bet he's the Chief News Editor...the one and only top dude who has the final say on what stuff gets reported and in what sequence. His balding head gives him an appearance of that of seasoned, hardened, jaded and decisive news professional (ie. Lou Grant from the Mary Tyler Moore Show). But if you look closely the guy can't be more than 29 yrs old!

(I wanna be careful about what I say about those news professionals...especially since I may wanna job working for one soon. )

With my cache of a couple hundred unedited/uncropped photos, a couple dozen or more short movie/video files of street scenes, hobo escapades and spontaneous/live "interviews" and  chatter with on duty SDPD officers, plus an ever-growing list of narrative topics to write about, my problem is not a lack of interesting content but rather one of prioritizing it.

Its not a problem to simply keep filling the pipe with new content from my stockpile. My problem is that I'm constantly jumping back and forth between processing/editing content from my stockpile and shooting/writing new fresh content that would be considered "news".

For example, if I see Sal, the armed security guard at the B of A, running after Chris White (the crazy violent dangerous hobo) who's escaping the scene on his gangster-styled Harley Davidson/Schwinn bicycle carrying three fat canvas bags marked "MONEY" while dodging bullets from Sal's handgun,
I consider that to be the sort of interesting hobo news that folks will enjoy reading and seeing video of. Its the kind of incident that clearly justifies dropping everything else to try and capture video/photos of. Below is a picture of Sal...he's dangerous! ;)

But lets say I'm at Starbucks working on a lengthy article about 'the tactical use of fear mongering by contract security guard companies as a marketing/sales strategy for getting new contracts and making war with hobos their daily mission' and I happen to look outside and see two hobos rolling through the parking lot carrying a 82" flat screen television, I'm  not sure how to react. Its unusual to see a hobo with any kind of new or costly technology, but until I hear a police siren or a cop bullhorn ordering the hobo to stop, or some screaming crying female pleading for help, I'm inclined to keep on working on my story. Priorities,IMO, need to be established and then maintained but so far I don't have any hard fast rules for setting them.

Btw,  here are a few photos I've earmarked  to support upcoming articles I'll be writing soon...

Topic: Logistics...discuss how my hobo living situation poses many challenges to the tasks of blogging while also provides me with some advantages in the logistics of covering local news.

Topic: Discuss/illustrate my promo strategy for my
blog and hopefully elicit some good feedback/advice.

Topic: In depth interview with hobo David "Man Down" Mick. I need to give this one a higher priority because any day at any hour he's capable (and quite accomplished lately) of getting himself arrested and next time he may do some considerable time. Before he does go away, I'd like to get his story and other stuff published/available to see so he can tell everyone in jail about my blog. ;)

Topic: Dumpsters and HOBONOMICS™...there are many disciplines of science which try to define and explain the phenomenon of the hobo. Perhaps none is more fascinating and more enticing to
spectators  and hobo wanna be's  than HOBONOMICS™. Its the science of hobo principles of finances, revenue generation and allocation, and most interesting of all, hobo accumulation and distribution of assets/chattel and his ritualistic duty of recycling/salvaging  of broken, used, expired crap that can actually add value and utility back into his old useless crap.

Topic: "Homeless is a choice!"...a favorite observation often used as an attack missle
aimed at hobos. Yes, I'll concede that not only is it sometimes a "choice", but I'll  explain how
living outside in the freaking cold, rain, mud, filth is an attractive and more feasible choice to the alternative options available to some hobos.

Topic: A discussion of that one intrinsic and obscure, hard to define, but easy to recognize,
impossible to replicate, priceless and enviable human talent, ability or
in-bread propensity commonly known as "hustle".
Its the most vital thing a hobo has or wishes for
that determines how fat his wallet is!

Unlike a gasoline powered stapler or a video powered necktie...

..my multi-media blog's purpose and usefulness remains elusive to the local hobos.

Its been two weeks since I moved my Popular Hobo News & Entertainment blog project from concept into online reality and function, and its interesting to see and hear the response my efforts and ideas are receiving from online readers, local residents and professionals/employees whom work in Mira Mesa. Not surprisingly, however, the other hobos are still perplexed and very cynical about my new blog. David Mick is one the only hobos I've met who hasn't become savvy with computers
using the internet.

o find

Pat's online everyday and he thinks its a great project. Of course he sees it as a means of getting laid.
I'm not sure why he thinks that.

Florida,Scott Model Chartreuse Spring Fashions!

D

Did you enjoy Florida's modeling poses? I've seen her perform much better,
but what makes her a real Supermodel is that she actually peed herself
while posing for the camera which is ultimately her viewing audience!!
Most models would stop the shoot, walk off the set and  leave their fans
confused and annoyed. Florida,OTOH, is all about pleasing her fans, clients and of course her
stockholders even if that requires her to change her pee-soaked stretch-pants later on.

Boogie Man/Terroroist At Large In Mira Mesa

I waited and waited for the SDPD spokesman to hold a press conference to explain why there is a known madman and certifialble violent terrorist riding freely and fearlessly around in traffic and along the sidewalks of Mira Mesa on his black Harley-Davidson/Schwinn beach cruiser bicycle making death threats to local residents (including myself). I was told later that the press conference was called off due to concerns that the Mira Mesa residents, upon hearing that their community is underseige by one drunken toothless tweeker who rides a bicycle, the residents may either riot in the streets or, more likely, may flee their homes enmass and seek refuge in Orange Cty or Riverside Cty where those police know how to deal with insane terrorist hobos: They shoot the muthafucka!

SDPD refuses to admit that there is an imminent danger posed by this indivdual at this time and they advise all residents to lock all doors and windows and call 911 if they see or hear something that sounds like Scott's very good and accurate portrayal of this toothless maggot's voice (its very much like Sylvester- the- cat as his "S"'s come out all mushy and sideways 'cause the asshole's toothless).**

There are no jails that can contain him..he just slithers out beneath the doors. And because his blood is so polluted by incurable diseases, illegal drugs and alcohol 24/7, there is no chemical nor pesticide toxic enough to exterminate him. He looks like a human skeleton with a small reptile-like skull on top. The bones are laminated with some sort of ancient dried goatskin that was once used as a doodle pad back in the 1920's by unskilled comic book sketch artists and early 20th century Nazi party founders. The ink those doodle sketchers used is now faded on the cracking, scarred, and defective goatskin cover He calls the doodle marks "tats" and he thinks his bicycle is a Harley! Yes, I know it sounds as if we're dealing with a young child (6 to 9 yrs of age)

Can one medically insane, 6ft tall, 110 lb. diseased and drunk, tweeker, car thief, hobo really and actually incite public unrest in the quite peaceful Mira Mesa community? Hmmmm... I don't think so. It looks like everyone here is resting quite well...that is,except for myself. He told me and David Mick that he was coming back to kill me with a knife last night. I guess he was too busy trying to find someone to sell him some drugs and he decided to reschedule my murder for another night.
Why is after me you ask? There is no reason. I assuem that he's just filled with envy and bile
because he 's  a lifestyle /career LOSER.

Chris White is his name and he's a 53yrs old walking/limping image of death and evil and his shot-out, sucked-up, sickly boney body and prune face makes him appear 70+ yrs.

Listen below to my Chris White voice immitation...try it yourself and then let your children try it..Its fun!! If you ever liked Sylvester the cat then you'll get a kick listening to Chris White when he's having one of his daily cerebral meltdown/violent fits of rage! He's dangerous.

The first time he started shit with me was nearly 3 yrs ago. He made the mistake of jumping off his bike and trying to fight me like a man (with his fists up and coming at me head-on) one morning while I was talking to Uncle Bill, a local cab driver. I was getting tired of hearing his senseless yapping slanderous manic screaming and seeing his scribbling of my name all across town defacing public and private property everywhere he went with his infantile messages:
"Scott has aids...Scott is a faggot... Scott is a pussy..etc etc." and he always signed his name to them.

So when he came at me, with a left hook I just blocked it and snatched him by the front of his hoodie and face-planted him into the pavement  beside Bill's taxicab. Then I flipped him over onto his back with my knee in his throat and he was still running his yapper. He didn't have his dentures in and so I slipped my entire blade of my hand into his mouth  and with my thumb positioned beneath his chin I was able to squeeze and twist on his lower jaw and stop that yapper from talking. With my hand still deep into his filthy mouth, I then began to pound out/tamp and flatten a few small bumps in the pavement I 'd noticed when driving my car there using the flat spot on the back of his bald
hard head. That flat spot worked like a charm on those pesky asphalt bumps. and that was probably the ,most useful "work" his head has ever contributed to in his life. It worked really well on those tiny bumps but it would have been ideal to use that skull bone for a more useful job like cracking open walnuts and pecans. After a bunch of firm slams against the pavement i noticed that his skull began to leak. Not wanting to spoil my nice jacket with Type 2 and 3 hep blood, I decided to punch his face one time and then let him go.

The seccond time he attacked me was at the MM Library and he used a knife.
Amazingly, I somehow backflipped of the bench I was on and avoided my throat getting slashed.
I jumped up and ran across the street to Vons and called 911. When the cops arrived, of course Chris White was gone and so they arrested me instead! I had beer on my breath and so they arrested me for drunk in public. I wasn't drunk at all.

Sometimes i don't know when or if to call the cops for things like attempted murder or yesterday's death threats. They've arrested him so many times that I guess they must be bored of it all.

**Note: The afore mention of SDPD was introduced into this blog news report
artificially with a deceptive and purely fictional presence/role. Although Chris White
did promise to kill me yesterday, I've not spoken to any SDPD officers about Chris White.

Popular Hobo N & E Needs Growth Mgmt and Capitol Investors!

Just as I anticipated months before I began compiling content for this blog--I'm gonna need help (facility/studio, staffing and equipment) to run and grow this thing into the kind of quality hobo news and entertainment product I envision (and do so within a reasonably short time frame).
I'm only two weeks into this project with only a tiny sliver of the content edited and uploaded and already I see the need to increase the work force by at least 300% immediately just to maintain a modest news team crew to cover the hellified happenings and shifty charades around Hoboville.

What with the quick/unexpected release from county jail of Mira Mesa's most notorious, most hated and mentally discombooberated, violent local hobo and plus the latest infestation of new downtown-dweller, heroin addict, sign-flying panhandlers who come up in here and try to run the local bums off the median by making false police reports, I'm bound to miss some entertaining felonious knife slashing, bone snapping, skull smashing drug-induced eruption of hobo madness whenever the shit pops off out here!

As some of you can imagine, shooting content for this N&E blog is not the same as when I used to shoot content for adult magazines and videos. I don't get to screen and interview the prospective cast members, or schedule rehersals or test shoots with them before the production shoot and nor is there a script for them to read and memorize. I don't even have any control nor influence over the wardrobe fashions and hairstyles these hobos wear when they perform! Can you imagine!!?My point is that capturing good content depends 80% upon my being at the right place at the right time and 20% working the camera (lighting and mic) properly.

Since we're on the subject of work via computer/internet/multimedia tools, let me try and describe the "workplace environment" at the studio and the news desk and their arsenals of technologies which support them. Again, doing things hobo style using my trusty Macbook is different from working on my Mac desktop when I owned a house a few years ago and I'm not referring to the many changes in the Mac OS but rather the simple things we often take for granted like light, heat and a roof over your head. I  have none of those things.

For example, two nights ago I was up late working online just as all of you often do yourselves.
And just past 9pm or so, when I noticed how ice cold and numb my fingers were getting from typing without gloves in the frigid 38 degree night time air, I  also  noticed a drop of liquid upon my laptop screen. Then another drop and pouranother and before I could snap my Macbook shut and dig out my 10' x 15' vinyl drop cloth and cover myself and all my stuff up, the clouds burst open and began to pour tons of icy cold rain down upon me and my gear! I managed to cover up quickly enough however to avoid any damage  to my computer but it was miserable being cold and wet like that.
Check out this news report I shot beneath my vinyl dropcloth.

I live outside 24/7 and only recently have I begun to post up inside places like Starbucks and the Fed Ex store where they have free wifi.  And  today I was posted up inside the Albertsons grocery store (@ the Starbucks kiosk) from 6am til 5pm writing and editing and using AT&T'S free wifi from next door. That's good but while I'm inside the store, I'm not out in the field on the scene shooting and recording new amazing hobo shit that's going down out there! I just know I'm missing some wild new stupid ass shit or funny shit that one of these hobos is either getting himself into or is trying to escape from! I mean, that's all they do all day long and it takes an alert and dedicated mobile multimedia studio + news team to be there and stay with them to capture news and entertainment when it breaks.

All day today I heard  the sirens of police cars and paramedics several times but I couldn't go investigate the situations because I was here at the news desk with my laptop, camera and
my crap strewn across the news desk.

Last week in the dumpster behind the bowling ally,
I rescued this abandoned headless toddler (manniquin).
He used to work fulltime standing/posing in the front window
of a children's clothing store until one day when he lost his head
after overhearing a customer call him a name ("dumb white trash").
Well, I wasn't there and I don't know about the "dumb" part but
when I found him he was dressed in this clean solid white spandex
bodysuit and standing a vaccum cleaner box inside the dumpster!
I know a little bit about white trash and lemme tell ya,
it just don't git no mo whiter trash dan dat!
I'm gonna keep the little feller
him and use the 1/4' dia. bolt in the
top of his neck as a camera mount!
He sure did turn a lot of heads while
I had him on my lap with that
camera screwed onto
his shoulders.

I don't know if I missed any good news stories today or not, but damnit, I'm gonna be pissed off
if I hear later on tonight that David Mick got drunk this morning (as usual) and started a fist fight
with that fat hostile heroin addict from downtown and I missed shooting video of it!

Since I became homeless, I've been interviewed on
LIVE four times by four local television
news stations. I think they saw potential in
my natural TVshow charisma, my quick wit and
my magnetic prime-time adorability long before
I finally realized just how amazing
I can be without any script,
 no make up nor
hairspray.

I like to drink coffee in the morning but I prefer to
switch over to beer by 9 or 10am and so what I
need to do is find a good compromise. Baily's and
coffee is the perfect solution for when I work inside
@ Starbucks. Its not like I'm sitting in a grocery store
drinking booze and pinching the asses of all the pretty
young mommies and bored under-appreciated sheltered
house wives who pass by me and smile seductively at me
all friggin day. Its not as if they know I'm a hobo.

Honestly, I don't worry about what they think because I'm
too busy working on my blog. I need to hire some skilled assistants.

Mira Mesa Hobo's Prompt/Capable First Aid Skills Prove Useless After Ped. Is Hit By SUV

Less than two hours ago, as I was sitting on the porch beside the CVS Drugstore watching traffic,
a silver Toyota SUV slammed into a pedestrian before my eyes. After hearing a loud thud sound made by the SUV and seeing light colored mass/blob flash above the roof of the car, the car stopped.

I ran quickly to the scene to ascertain the situation and as I approached, I saw the victim lying face
down in the far right hand lane. At first glance I thought it was one of the local hobos whom I see everyday as he was a black, heavyset male approx, 40 to 45 yrs old. I checked to make sure that traffic had stopped and then I jumped down on my knees to tend to him as best as I could while calling 911. I felt his pulse and I saw that he was breathing but his internal and head  injuries were so severe that it seemed impossible that he was still alive. His eyes were open but hisd pupils were fully dialated. A motorist came to assist me and we rolled the man onto his side to prevent him from choking on his blood which was pouring out of his mouth. I then ran 50 ft or so over to the
"crows nest" (the fav daytime beer drinking spot behind the US Bank) and grabbed up a pile of
hobo blankets and sheets that were being used recently by an out of town female guess hobo.
I raced back to the victim and carefully placed a couple of clean/non-soiled folded blankets
beneath his head and held his wrist to feel his pulse until the paramedics arrived.

The first responder was a SDPD officer who didn't disrupt nor try to improve whatever it was
me and the motorist guy were doing. Basically, we were both trying to comfort this poor guy with
an ever sinking feeling of helplessness and sadness knowing that he may die any second in our hands.
When the paramedics arrived a few minutes later, I left the scene for a moment to run down the ally and wake  David Mick up  inside the dumpster pen behind Albertsons. Since David Mick is the most frequently  injured "victim" the paramedics are usually called to tend to, I knew he would enjoy getting up out of his sleeping bag to come out and gawk and listen to all the fire/rescue crew, the dozen or so cops walking around, the half mile or so long streamers of yellow police caution tape everywhere and  three TVnetwork news team trucks with lights and cameras and all.

The paramedics loaded the victim inside the ambulance and drove away without lights and sirens,
which is an indication that the man may have died at the scene. The cops made me hang around  so they could get my report as the only eye witness to the actual accident. After the cops took my report they let me go to get my camera and laptop so I could capture this  BREAKING NEWS and update my blog asap.

My prayers tonight go out to the family of the young male victim whom I wished I could have helped. I regret that I have no info about him or his family whatsoever. (ref to Channel 6 and 8 for
more details... yeah I know I should put links here for their websites. You need to know also that its 1:24 am here in Hoboville and I'm freezing my ass off outside here at Jersey Mikes to update this blog and I'm going to bed now.) And I'm sending a special prayer to the poor young female driver of the SUV whom struck him. There was, IMO, nothing she could have done to avoid hitting the man, yet she will surely be traumatized by this unfortunate accident for  msny years to come knowing that she actually took a human life tonight.

God, that is so anguishing. I hope she knows the Lord and finds peace with herself. I also hope that she had good auto insurance and that she's able to get her life back on track soon.
Good Night from the news desk of Popular Hobo News and Entertainment..I'm Scott.

2 Much Good Hobo Stuff...I need a bigger shopping cart!

One of the prevailing theorems subscribed to or at least tauted by countless bums, hobos, homeless urchins and transients (see footnote1) goes something like this :

"If you can't carry it inside your backpack
                                                       then you don't need it."

This sounds very good...very intelligent and disciplined. No hoarders, pack-rats, junk collectors
nor pawnshop/swap-meet junkies allowed!! Its advice that smacks of efficiency, simplicity and implies that you' ve got cash wealth (ie. Whatever things/stuff one may need that didn't fit
inside the backpack can be easily purchased/replaced with a new one at the next destination.)

Well, I hate that stupid adviCe and I always have from the first moment some hobo tried to
offer it to me. Its the sort of self-limiting handicap that only a bottom-dwelling lifestyle loser would adhere to. I never learned that the American Dream meant going to school /become trained in some field of work, save your hard earned money so that one day you'll be able go buy a lovely spacious backpack where you and your wife can start family.

Perhaps that's being a little too harsh, but the only people I ever met who follow that backpack rule are the ones who constantly ask to borrow (and sometimes steal) my hobo crap!

One of the biggest advantages I've come to appreciate most about living hobo style in Mira Mesa is that I have an ever expanding universe of peripheral storage spaces nearby. One is large enough to hold all of my hobo crap together (but its the furthest away) while the other several are very small and each one can barely hold half a small shopping cart load of stuff. What i like most about them all is that I pay no rent/storage fee for using them and I can get to my stuff 24/7.

While climbing out of the dumpster behind CVS drugstore tonight, I ran into
my little buddy Miguel! His Ingles es no muy bueno, but its far mo betta than my
Spanish and yet we still understand one another and we like to chop it up once in a while. ; )

By having several small storage containers spread out all across town, I feel sorta like a fatcat corporate banker capitalist pig (remember how the infamous OCCUPY movement coined the term
for the super wealthy folks: "the one percenters" whom live with excess supplies of overpriced high end stuff and own dozens of vacation homes near every major airport and enjoy the luxury of having their personal crap at fingertips whenever they travel). Well, that's how I roll as well.

I'm not bragging here, but, for example, whenever I get bored with these
Eastside MM hobos, I just drag/push my shopping cart 2 miles across town to Camino Ruiz Blvd.  where I have several caches of canned food and clean/dry clothes safely stored. Whenever I want to
escape from MM for awhile I can slide over to Miramar where I have a large patio-porch-split level dwelling with ambiance and privacy and yes, more of my stuff stored nearby.

I know that to some, I may sound as if I'm content with all of my little piles and bags full of hobo crap strewn all over town but the truth is that I'm as frustrated as hell because I need more crap...lots of it. What I really need is a full time job with an income in the 70k to 90k range but I'll get into that another time.

For as long as I've been homeless, over 4 yrs, I've always recognized the treasures that can be found
in dumpsters. But like in so many other ways, the way I dumpster dive is vastly different from how most other hobos do it. Rarely do we search for the same kinds of crap unless its something really good like canned soup, bottles of wine or like that big laundry bag we found last year that was filled with unwashed panties that was owned/worn by Jessica Simpson!
(Okay I lied...they actually belonged to Ashley.)
